Besides being a good song, this song is one of the ones that reminds me of a book, specifically "Hyperion" by Dan Simmons. There is a scene in the book (set in the far future on a bizarre semi-religious pilgrimage) of a battlefield. The same is true in the song. Somehow, even though these two are so completely dissimilar, the song is permanently linked to the book in my head.
